"A Choice with No Answer" (
Summary[]
Barbara meets with Thomas, the manager of the Children's Building at the time, and is told that she cannot become an adult as Barbie's face is damaged. She is also told that she is to be Christopher's successor on the Star Bearers. In the present, Maryrose wonders if she was wrong to undo the brainwashing on Anthony, Christopher's doll. On the day of Christopher's invitation, it turns out that Anthony managed to return to Maryrose's room with the news that Christopher has committed suicide after learning of fusion.
Plot[]
In Lord Grandfather's wing, Barbara is told that she cannot become an adult due to Barbie's face injury by Thomas who reveals fusion to her. Normally she would be disposed but Thomas states that Christopher is waiting for her, assigning her as a Star Bearer and is given 2 goals: Keep the children in order and heal her Face for fusion. Walking to her new room, Barbara notes that becoming a Star Bearer no longer means that one will be invited and she refuses to wear the star medal until she becomes a leader similar to Christopher and parts ways with Maryrose. Seeing Barbie check on the scar on her forehead, Barbara wonders if she can be praised when she meets Christopher again.
In the present, Barbara signs a letter of consent for the transfer of Maryrose and asks Edward to not manipulate the Star Bearers. Following Edward, Maryrose internally apologizes to Barbara as she doesn't know anything, wondering if she was wrong to undo the brainwashing on Anthony, Christopher's doll. On the day Christopher was invited, Maryrose and Rosemary are shocked to see Anthony burst into their room. He frantically explains fusion and breaks down, claiming Christopher killed himself when he learned of the secret. Barbara knocks on her door but Maryrose is unable to tell her what she knows, heavy from grief.
